The Cavs vs The Warriors: Vol. 3
With talk of the NBA finals taking over social media, one debate seems to keep the attention of sports fans everywhere: Who is better? Lebron, The King and his team of Cavaliers? Or Steph Curry and his team of sharpshooters at Golden State?
In my opinion, as a solo player, the King reigns as the very best on the court. His physicality and size are unmatched, especially in the paint. Lebron can drive to the basket and finish with power that isn’t seen with most guys. He doesn’t just make baskets or throw it down with a powerful dunk; he makes statements with everything he does. Sure, his defense on the perimeter is weak, but people forget that he is a 6’8 and 250 pound FORWARD. And he still can match up with nearly everyone, even point guards. Plus, even if other players do make it to the rim, we have all borne witness to James' blocking ability. When it matters most, James gets it done. Clutch is priceless in the league.
As a group effort, Golden State blows any team completely out of the water. With a starting five consisting of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Zaza Pachulia, and their newest addition, Kevin Durant, the Warriors are an unstoppable force on offense. They can drop a three from 28 feet out with the incredible shooting ability from Steph Curry, and toss up a devastating “Alley-oop” to the 6'9 Kevin Durant. Adding to this fiery offense is the full-speed pace they are able to keep up. They will wear you down over the course of the game while dropping dimes from long distances before you even have your defense set.
Overall, this year’s NBA Finals are already a spectacle. Kevin Durant dominates; Steph Curry will put on a show; and Lebron James will not cease to shine, even if he is down 20+. Some may complain about the fact that these same two teams have met in the finals three years in a row, but with both teams having won one and lost one, I see some unfinished business brewing on both coasts.
